The Central-Eastern Elephant Corridor Expedition in Nepal

Project title: Assessing, Identification and Conservation of Elephant Corridor in Eastern Part of Central Nepal.

Research Location: The Exploration area extends from Central Nepal (Sarlahi) to Eastern Nepal (Koshi River) consisting about seven districts. The VDCs regions of Sarlahi , Mohattari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Sindhuli, Udaypur, Saptari with Human Elephant co-existence area will be explored.

This project overall focuses on recognition of elephant corridors in the study area. Also education and raising awareness of elephant movement patterns to villagers will be done. We have provision of educational material, documentaries to villagers, School presentation for school children. After all we will work raising awareness and educating in the field by a petition of signatures from villagers or a pledge of support from village leaders along the corridors lending their support to recognition of and ultimately protection of the elephant corridors.
